Do You Need to Panda to Google?

Is it essential to follow Google's SEO guidelines to get traffic to your webpage?

No. Although Google is the biggest creator of traffic on the Internet it is not the only one.

Many don't like to have others telling them how to build their webpages, how many words they need to use, where to use keywords, must have links, the website must have more than one page, etc.

How will your page get traffic without submitting it to search engines and using SEO?

How a Webpage Gets Traffic

What happens to your webpage after you build it and publish it on the Internet?

Your webpage will sit there in its hosting computer waiting for its first visitor. This visitor will only come if someone puts the pages URL in their browser or if someone creates a link to it from another webpage that has traffic. Links to your webpage need to be placed on other webpages.

Where Can You Put Links to Your Webpage?

Many aim to use SEO to get links to their pages on Google's SERPs because this can bring a lot of traffic. Others aim to get links in website directories. These techniques rely on the search engine or directory liking your webpage. Another technique is to just get your page out there in front of the general public and see if they like it.

This can be done via article sites, social networks, bookmarking sites, forums, comments on other sites and Q and A sites.

If your webpage is good it will soon go viral as others post your link all over the Internet for you, all without Google.

In that case more than likely when Google sees that your page is popular it will want to give you a link in its top SERPs, even if your page only contains one photo and a couple of lines of text.

Even if you don't submit your site to any search engine they will still find it and index and rank it or not as they see fit.

Conclusion

Yes, SEO, with all its keywords and links, is good way to get traffic, but if you can't be bothered with it you can still create good traffic by simply producing great pages and promoting them on other peoples sites. Build pages that others will link to and spread for you and the traffic will come.

This is a very interesting hub as it gives us all hope. As you say, using key words is a good way to get traffic, but there are many other ways. Whats interesting is when you look at sites like Wikipedia. They don't use key words-but Google has given them top ranking still. I Voted UP and AWESOME for this information as its nice to know that sometimes we can just write what we feel rather than what the computer wants.
