Money making guides on the Internet are usually guides to lose your money fast. The line usually goes "give me some money and I will tell you how to make money".

Never, never, pay money for a money making guide. All the information you need is freely available on the internet.

Ask yourself "where is the money on the Internet?"

Website owners are paying good money to get their websites found on the Internet. Website owners need agents to promote their products and services. That is where you come in.

The system is called affiliate marketing.

You promote someone else's products and send traffic to their website.

The steps are as follows;

1. Build a website.

2. Join an affiliate program.

3. Get affiliate links from the affiliate program.

4. Put the links on your website.

5. Write a review about the website or its products.

6. Get traffic to your site.

7. Send traffic from your site through the affiliate links to the site you are promoting.

You get commission for the amount of traffic you send or you get commission if you send a customer to the site and they buy something or carry out some other action on the site. This is "pay per click" (PPC) or "pay per action" (PPA).

If you are new to making websites you may want to start out with a free website to get the feel of how things work. Try Google free sites or if you want a blog try WordPress.

Some websites are more search engine friendly. WordPress and Google should be fine.

In the long run you want to be aiming to get a paid for site as it will be more professional. A paid for site will give you a better domain name,

eg. www.joebloggs.com as opposed to www.freewebsitespace.com/joebloggs/

If you are new to websites go for a company that provides the whole package. You will need a domain name, software to build your site and hosting. Try to find a company where you can try out the site building software and templates before signing up.

One company I have used is SiteSell or SBI. They are very good for the beginner as they take you step by step through the whole process. They do charge though.

When building your site the most important factor to keep in mind is good use of keywords.

Keywords are search terms entered at the search engines. They can be made up of one or more words.

Use Google Keyword Tool to find keywords that people are actually entering at the engines.

Once you have picked your keyword you need to test out the competition. Enter the keyword in Google and take a look at the results. These are the sites you will be competing with. Use Google page rank checker to see what you are up against. Copy and paste some of the domain names or URLs into the page rank checker and see what score they have.

The PR is a score Google gives a site depending on it's popularity. High PR sites get nearer to page one on the results pages for any given keyword search.

Sites with high PR, ie. PR10 will be too hard to beat. If you are a newbie you want to think about competing with some PR1, 2 or 3 sites.

If the first three search engine results pages are full of PR10 sites you know to try another word with less competition.

Once you have found a keyword you can write about with winnable competition you need to use the word in your site.

Use the word in your domain name and in your site pages. When building your site you will be asked for a page title and page description. These make up the text that appears on the search engine results pages. Use your keywords in both.

All this will help the engines to serve up your site to hungry surfers searching for your pages.

Take a look at some websites you like. Would you like to promote the site?

Look around the site for where it says "affiliates" or "refer a friend", etc. (often on the foot of the page) and you will find directions on how to join.

They will provide you with affiliate links in the form of a URL or HTML that you can copy and paste into your pages.

When building your pages you will see a chain symbol. Click on that to insert the link. Some page builders have a different set up, but it is easy once you get the hang of it.

Preferably use programs that are free to join.

Once you have built your first page submit your sites URL (domain name) to the big search engines. Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Then submit your site to some good high PR directories.

Then just keep creating lots of content rich pages. Pages with lots of information and images, etc. that people can't find elsewhere on the net.

The search engines will reward you for regularly writing lots of fresh unique keyword rich content by putting you nearer to their first search results page. That is where the customers are, looking at the first search results page on Google.

Think one or two hundred pages of 500 or 1000 words rather than twenty pages of 250 words.

Maybe you wanted a money making guide that didn't involve writing. No problem. You can buy good quality articles and build your site from them.

To be Successful at making money on the Internet you need stickability.

If you enjoy the work and are able to keep learning and applying what you learn you can't fail, you can only give up.

Many fail to see immediate results and give up thinking it is all to hard or its a scam, but seeing results from affiliate marketing can take months or years for some. Think of it as an education. How long does it take to get a degree for a job?
